USS Biz Trek Activity #1: Start a Travel Log
When you go on a fantastic trip somewhere, you usually bring home some souvenirs to
help you remember all the fun. The voyage you are now starting toward business ownership
will be full of many fantastic opportunities for learning. To keep a record of this
journey, we want you to start a travel log.
Your travel log can be made out of simple supplies you already have at home or at
school. Here are three good ways to create a USS Biz Trek log (or notebook) where you can take
notes and organize printouts from your lessons:
- Use a spiral notebook with pocket dividers.
- Use a three-ring binder and pocket dividers.
- Use a pocket folder and notebook paper.
Loggin On!
Take time now to get the supplies you need and create a log or notebook. We suggest
that you personalize your log by decorating the front cover. On the first page of your
log, write "USS Biz Trek." Beneath this title, write the date you started your
voyage into the world of entrepreneurship, your name, and your address (in case the
notebook ever gets lost).
On the next page, make a new heading titled "Why I Want to Start a Business."
Under that heading, write at least five reasons you want to be a business owner. If you
think of more reasons later, keep going back to this page and listing them. Then, when the
trek gets difficult, go back and read your list again. It will help you keep your
determination to overcome any problems that seem to block your way.
Each time you visit the USS Biz Trek and work on your business, bring your
USS Biz Trek log. In
every lesson, there will be writing activities and important things to record.
