USS Biz Trek Activity # 35: Dress for Success

Would you wear a business suit in space? Probably not. Would you wear a spacesuit to run your business? Maybe, if interplanetary tours were your business. Whatever your biz is, you have to dress the part. Here are some tips to help you decide what to wear:

  • Business Casual: For both guys and gals, business casual includes nice jeans, khakis, nice T-shirts, polo-style shirts, and clean tennis shoes.
  • Professional Casual: For guys, professional casual includes pressed slacks, shirts without ties, and leather lace-up shoes or loafers. Girls can wear slacks or skirts with a blouse that has a collar and sleeves. Denim is not recommended for professional casual.
  • Business Professional: For guys, business professional includes dress slacks with a pressed shirt and tie, jacket or sweater, and leather shoes. Girls can wear dresses, suits with skirts or slacks, and low-heeled dress shoes. Any jewelry or accessories should be conservative in style and design.

Loggin’ On

Grab your trusty USS Biz Trek log one more time and create a new page titled "Business Attire." Now that you’ve read all these tips for business dress, it’s time to decide what you will wear when you go out to sell. Go through your closet and see what you have to wear. Make notes about your wardrobe and any additional clothing you may need to purchase. One way to save money on business clothes is to get some T-shirts made with your business name and logo. Then, every time you go out, you’re a walking advertisement for your company.

Finished? Take the Challenge. There you’ll find additional resources and activities to continue improving your business. But take time now to send YoungBiz an e-mail and tell us all about your exciting new business. Your story could be featured in a future issue of Y&E magazine or on the YoungBiz website!
