USS Biz Trek Activity #7: On Target

In Lesson 3, you learned that you can make your product appeal to a specific audience. You may have already decided to change your product so you can focus in on these customers and give them the best service possible. If you have decided on a specific target audience, you need to make sure that it is large enough to keep you in business.

There are two things to keep in mind. First of all, can all of your target customers afford your product? Not everyone is going to be willing to pay $100 for your landscaping service. You may need to drop back to lawn care and charge much less. Secondly, how loyal are your customers? Can you count on them to hire you week after week to mow their lawns? If not, you need to decide if you are going to concentrate on your more loyal customers, or if you are going to try to get them to change their minds.

Loggin’ On

Use this guide provided by Bizroadmap.com to choose your best customers. It will help you decide if a customer is "most profitable," "profitable," or "least profitable." Title a page in your notebook "Profitable Customers" and list your results there. Then decide on a plan of action. How can you get more names under the "Most Profitable" column? Describe your plan in your notebook.
