Overcoming Negative IllusionsDo you like optical illusions? Click on the following link to see how many of the optical illusions you can solve: http://members.aol.com/Ryanbut/optical.html Think About It!!An optical illusion can trick us into making a wrong choice because we think we see one thing when we actually see something else. Optical illusions give us false or unreliable information. Talk It Out!!False illusions are much like pre-conceived ideas, prejudices, or myths. Get together with some of your friends who are also starting businesses. Discuss some common pre-conceived ideas about teens starting a business (Example: teenagers are too young to run a business). Then talk about ways to overcome these negative ideas. Believing preconceived ideas, prejudices, and myths keep us from performing as well as we could. In order to succeed, you have to think in terms of success, not failure. Talk about some positive expectations you have about starting a business. List some things you can do to make your expectations come true. Post your ideas on the YoungBiz bulletin boards or write the YoungBiz editors an e-mail about your experiences with business prejudices, myths, or illusions. We want to hear from you!
