Vacation!

In the five weeks before the vacation, Tiff manages to sell 30 corsages and 25 tie clips for a whopping $550. Her regular jewelry sales to boutiques zoom as graduation nears, and Tiff manages to rake in another $150.

Also, Tiff has switched from drinking soda to water. Normally she would spend $8 a week on her soft drink habit, but there are enough water fountains at school to slake her thirst. Plus, she can put tap water in a bottle and carry it around with her. Tiff beams when she announces that she has $740 for the vacation pot. Papa Spiff gulps, and hands over his part for a total of $1480.

Riff is a quiet little guy, but very smart. He has seen some of the older guys play basketball in the park after school. Riff takes his allowance and buys a bag of ice and some sports drinks. He puts the family ice chest in the back of his old wagon, fills it with ice and drinks, and drags it to the park full of thirsty ball players. In five weeks, Riff manages to make $120. Riff knows that wagon can come in handy in more ways than one. Once a week, he also goes door to door, and asks people if he can take their newspapers to the recycling center for them. His neighbors are glad to fork over a buck to have this done, and Riff collects another $100.

When he deposits $220 in the vacation fund, everyone beams. Papa Spiff matches that, for a grand total that leaves them $100 of extra spending cash!

The Spiff Family is going to Disney World!
